Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

In this policy, "Isle Know," "we," and "us" mean the independent student developer who runs the Isle Know app at isleknow.com.

This policy sits next to the Terms of Service.

The short version

Isle Know is a study app. Correct answers add blocks to a 3D voxel world.

Who this policy is for

This policy covers studying as a guest and studying with an account. Sections say As a guest or With an account where it matters.

Ages 13 and up

We are not offering Isle Know to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. We do not ask parents for permission to collect a child's information, because children under 13 should not use the app at all.

If you are under 13, do not use Isle Know, do not import study sets, and do not create an account.

If we learn that information we hold belongs to someone under 13, we will delete that account and the data stored with it. A parent or guardian can email support@isleknow.com.

Before you sign in on a device, the app asks for your birth year (and, for some people, the month). If the answer shows you are under 13, the app does not open Google sign-in, no account is created, and nothing is saved to the cloud. We keep only whether the check passed, never your birth year or month. The app remembers on that device that the check did not pass.

Who runs Isle Know

Isle Know is run by an independent student developer. The app is in an early beta.

Privacy questions go to support@isleknow.com.

What we store on your device

As a guest, and on any device you use.

Progress and imported study sets are kept in your browser's storage on this device. As a guest, none of it is sent to a server.

The app uses localStorage when the browser allows it. If the browser blocks localStorage, the app keeps the same data in that tab's memory (window.name). That fallback stays on the device too. Sign-in needs localStorage, so if it's blocked, the app offers guest studying only.

Stored on your device:

As a guest, another device or browser starts empty. If the fallback is in use, another tab starts empty too, because window.name belongs to that tab. Clearing site data for Isle Know removes the localStorage copy. Closing the tab clears the window.name copy. We cannot restore a guest copy, because we never received it.

When you sign out, the app removes your study data from that device after it's saved to your account, so the next person on a shared computer doesn't see it.

Backup files you make yourself. Settings › Progress has Save a backup, which saves one file to your device with your progress, study sets, and settings. The file never includes your sign-in. The file is made in your browser and goes only where you save it; we never receive it. Restore from a backup reads that file in your browser and replaces this device's progress with it. If you're signed in, restoring a backup also replaces the progress in your account. Anyone who has the file can see the study sets and progress in it, so keep it somewhere private.

The app also asks your browser to keep this site's data instead of clearing it to free up space (the browser's "persistent storage" setting). Nothing is sent anywhere.

What we collect when you have an account

With an account.

Accounts use Google sign-in. Your progress and study sets are saved to Supabase, a cloud database service, in its US West region.

When you have an account, we collect:

We use that information to run your account, save your studying, read your feedback, and delete it all when you ask. We do not use it for ads, and we do not use it to train AI.

We do not use analytics or error-reporting services. If we add either one, we will update this policy first and say what it collects.

Feedback

Feedback goes to our database. Only the developer can read it. Other users can't. It's deleted with your account. Guests can email support@isleknow.com instead.

Your study materials

You own the notes, term lists, spreadsheets, and quiz exports you import. We do not take ownership of them.

You need the right to upload them. The Terms of Service explain that.

They stay private to you. We do not show them to other users. We do not share them, sell them, or use them to train AI.

On your device they sit in your browser's storage. With an account we also save them in Supabase, only so we can store them for your account and show them back to you.

What we never do

Loading the page

isleknow.com is hosted by Cloudflare. When someone opens the site, Cloudflare can see the usual technical details of a web request, such as an IP address and browser details, and uses them to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks.

When the page loads, the app also downloads files from three outside services. They can see the visitor's IP address and browser details. They never receive study progress or imported study sets.

We plan to ship these files with the app. When we do, this list can shrink, because the browser will load them from isleknow.com instead of from these services.

As a guest, none of your study data is sent to a server. If you sign in, it's saved to Supabase.

Who else handles data

For everyone, these services can receive your IP address and browser details when you load the site. They never receive study data.

Emails you send to support@isleknow.com pass through Cloudflare's email forwarding on the way to our inbox.

As a guest, your progress and study sets stay in your browser's storage on this device, and we do not receive them.

If you sign in, two more services handle data so the app can run your account:

We will add a company to this list only by updating this policy before that company starts handling data.

If a law, court, or government request requires us to provide data we actually hold, we may have to provide it. We hold a server copy only for signed-in accounts.

How long we keep information

As a guest: the copy stays in your browser's storage on this device. The localStorage copy stays until you clear site data for Isle Know, or until the browser removes it. If localStorage is blocked, the copy stays in that tab's memory (window.name) until you close the tab. We do not have a second copy. Any backup file you save stays wherever you put it, until you delete it.

With an account: we keep account data, including feedback, until you delete the account. Deletion removes the account and all of your data. Copies in Supabase's backups can last up to 7 more days before they are gone for good. Supabase keeps its sign-in records (times, IP addresses, and browsers) for a limited time for security.

Deleting your information

As a guest: clear site data for Isle Know in your browser. That removes the localStorage copy. If the app is using the tab-memory fallback, close that tab to clear the window.name copy. Delete any backup files you saved, too.

With an account: you can delete your account and all of your data, including saved progress, the blocks in your voxel world, imported study sets, and feedback. Open Settings, then Account, and choose Delete my account. You can also email support@isleknow.com and ask us to delete the account and the data we store for it. Deleting your account keeps the islands on the device you're using as a guest copy; clear site data to remove those too.

Deleting an Isle Know account does not delete the original files on your computer, and it does not delete your Google account.

Possible future plans

A paid Pro tier with AI features may come later. The app has no paid plan now.

If we ever offer Pro, we will update this policy before it starts. The same promises will still apply: your imported notes, term lists, spreadsheets, and quiz exports stay private, and we do not use them to train AI or sell personal data.

Changes to this policy

We will post updates on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. We also email account holders before an important change takes effect.

Analytics and error reporting wait until this policy names them.
