Terms of Service

These terms sit next to the Privacy Policy. In both documents, "Isle Know," "we," and "us" mean the independent student developer who runs the Isle Know app at isleknow.com.

Agreement

Isle Know is a study app in an early beta.

Using Isle Know means you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

They cover studying as a guest and studying with a Google account.

Ages 13 and up

Isle Know is for ages 13 and up. We are not offering the app to children under 13.

By using Isle Know, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. Before you sign in on a device, the app asks for your birth year (and, for some people, the month), and no account is created for anyone under 13. If you are under 13, stop. Do not import study sets, and do not create an account.

The service

Correct answers add blocks to a 3D voxel world. You can import your own notes, term lists, spreadsheets, and quiz exports and study from them.

Isle Know is a student project. We may change, pause, or remove parts of it. We do not promise that the app will always be available, that your progress will never be lost, or that using it will produce any grade or score.

Studying as a guest

As a guest, progress and imported study sets stay in your browser's storage on this device. The app uses localStorage when the browser allows it. If the browser blocks localStorage, the app keeps that data in the tab's memory (window.name). Either way it stays on the device, and none of that study data is sent to a server. You are responsible for that copy. Clearing site data removes the localStorage copy. Closing the tab clears the window.name copy. We cannot recover either one. Settings › Progress › Save a backup lets you keep your own copy.

Loading the page still downloads fonts and code from outside services. The Privacy Policy names them. They can see your IP address and browser details. They never receive your study data.

The rules on age, your files, and acceptable use apply to guests and accounts.

Accounts

You sign in with Google. Use one account per person. You are responsible for the Google account you use and for what happens on your Isle Know account.

Progress and study sets are saved to Supabase, the cloud database service named in the Privacy Policy. Each account can store up to 25 MB, which is plenty for dozens of study sets. When an account is full, the app asks you to delete an old study set before it saves more.

When you sign out, the app saves your progress to your account and then removes it from that device.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that puts the app or other people at risk. When we can, we will email you first to explain why and give you a chance to save your study sets.

Your notes stay yours

You own the notes, term lists, spreadsheets, and quiz exports you import. We do not claim ownership of them.

You must have the right to upload them. Upload material that is yours, or that you have permission to use in this way. Do not upload material you lack the right to use, or material that breaks the law.

You give Isle Know a limited permission to store that material and show it back to you, so the study app can work. On your device, that means keeping it in your browser's storage. With an account, it also means saving a copy in Supabase for your account.

That permission is only for running Isle Know for you. We do not get the right to publish your files, sell them, share them with other users, or use them to train AI. Clearing the browser copy ends it on that device. Deleting your account ends it for the cloud copy as well.

Your study sets stay private to you. The Privacy Policy describes where they are stored.

Privacy

The Privacy Policy is part of these terms. It describes your browser's storage on your device, the outside services that see a page load, and Google sign-in plus cloud saving for accounts.

We do not show ads. We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data for anyone else's use. The Privacy Policy names the only companies that may process it to run the app: Cloudflare, which hosts the site; the services that deliver fonts and code when the page loads (Google Fonts, Cloudflare cdnjs, and jsDelivr); and, for accounts, Google sign-in and Supabase. We do not use your study materials or progress to train AI.

Deleting your account and data

With an account: you can delete your account and all of your data, including saved progress, imported study sets, and feedback. Open Settings, then Account, and choose Delete my account. You can also email support@isleknow.com and ask us to delete the account and the data we store for it.

As a guest: the copy is in your browser's storage on this device. Clear site data for Isle Know to remove the localStorage copy. If the browser blocked localStorage, close the tab to clear the window.name copy. A guest has no account for us to delete.

Possible future plans

A paid Pro tier with AI features may come later. The app has no paid plan now. You are charged only if you later choose a paid plan we have clearly posted.

If we offer Pro, we will show the price and any extra terms first, and we will update these terms and the Privacy Policy before it starts. Imported study materials stay out of AI training.

Disclaimers

Isle Know is a study tool from a student. It is provided as-is. We do not promise that it will be free of errors, that progress will never be lost, or that it will help you pass a class.

To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limits on responsibility

To the extent the law allows, Isle Know and the person who runs it are not liable for lost progress, lost study materials, school results, or indirect damages connected with Isle Know.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected with Isle Know is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. If the law where you live does not allow a limit like this, the limit applies only as far as that law allows.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. If you have a problem with Isle Know, please email support@isleknow.com first so we can try to work it out. If we cannot, the dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.

Changes

We may update these terms, including when accounts are added. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. We also email account holders before an important change takes effect. If you keep using Isle Know after that, you agree to the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using the app, and you can delete your account.
